introduction

You spend your whole life trying to be someone else and you forget who you once were. Or who you could have been, had things gone slightly differently. I remember the stories I heard when I was younger, from people who thought they knew - never mind. It's pointless wondering about that.

My name's John Harvey. Captain, UNSC. SSF. Commander of the cruiser Waiting Fortune.

AU, slightly cracked version of the Master Chief from Halo - when the past went a bit differently. Following an early Covenant advance through a Slipspace fracture and the destruction of the Spartan-2 forces, he's had to go about things... another way. He's spent a lot of his career training up Spartan recruits, and doing a lot more behind the scenes work than getting out onto the battlefield - though there's been plenty of time out there, too. PB is Karl Urban. Physical details for John: he's about seven foot tall, very pale - he'd sunburn if you looked at him the wrong way - and built like an athlete. He rarely wears civilian clothes, and will usually be spotted in uniform but not necessarily armour (which is CQB not standard).
